Watching the negative stories on the local news stations can subconsciously raise stress levels and mental states of paranoia.

By replacing negative media with positive media, such as comedies or motivational material, the side effects of stress, including poor digestion and water retention, can be reduced. Not to mention, being in a happier mental state will encourage having more energy to get to the gym.

We all know it takes more muscles to frown than to smile and more energy to be negative than positive. Therefore, you may also want to monitor watching movies with depressing story lines or TV shows that are deeply dramatic. It doesn’t stop at the news broadcasts. Other media that you may want to consider eliminating are bluesy songs or books with stories about tragedy.
